STEPHEN B. DIXON
Stephen Bruce Dixon grew up in Denver, Colorado.
He was trained in fine arts at the University of Colorado. His favorite, but
not the only style he paints is minimalist impressionism, incorporating
surface texture to his oil on canvas paintings.
Stephen feels this art style creates a
synergistic relationship between the art and the viewer. The observer
becomes part of the art and is drawn into the painting making it their own.
For this reason, Stephen does not paint faces
on the subjects which creates opportunity for the viewer to insert his/her
own self or images, creating a personal experience with the painting.
Using this technique, Stephen can take a
simple thought or visual from everyday life and create an entire emotional
experience for the art lover.
While he has always been passionate about
art, Stephen did not have the luxury of devoting his full attention to
painting during the years as he was in Military Intelligence for military
efforts in various countries.
Sequentially, he spent time expanding his
skills and horizons studying landscape oil painting in various locations
including Alaska. “There is nothing as beautiful as the landscapes in
Alaska,” Stephen affirms. Much of the influence in this style comes as
result of his studies while in Japan where he spent over five years embedded
in the Japanese culture and art.
Stephen is an award-winning artist in juried
art competitions who paints in oil on canvas. He continues to expand his
techniques with new artistic approaches and creativity. His art work graces
the homes of art collectors which includes Kelsey Grammer (Actor/ Producer),
Michael Tuck (Southern California News Anchor), and Dave Thomas
(Actor/Producer). His art has been collected by national and international
company executives from Pacifica Services Inc, Vanir, Inc. and other private
collections.
Stephen is now fortunate to be a full-time creator of art, and works out of
his private studio in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
